Black Is the New Orange

Now, we have all talked at length about how to use simply white, soft pastels and lively contrasts to brighten your space and decorate in such a way that the room in question seems larger, brighter and more open. A new trend creeping in to 2019 is a sultrier side to interior decorating, and that is the use of black.

Naturally, we know, black is not for everyone. When it is not used right it can make a room feel smaller or less homely. However, we can definitely give you a few pointers to help you reconsider using this deep shade to create an edgy and daring spot in your home.

Rule 3- Keep it chic and simple. Sometimes when using too many dark tones it can overwhelm the space when adding too many furnishings or colours. To keep it sophisticated, keep it to a minimalist colour palette which will really bring out the elegance of the room.

If you are simply not ready to go completely black, why not keep it simple with luscious, dark upholstery? One recommendation for upholstery is a black velvet- timeless and luxurious it brings out a softness to your space no other fabric can.

Rule 1- Make sure your chosen room has plenty of natural light to liven up the darken tones.

Rule 2- Make sure you have some contrasts in the room that really stand out against the black. For some this may be going for a bold colour such as yellow or red, and for some, a simple grey or white tone.
