Inspired By Naguro

We already know of the notoriously glamorous hotels with extravagant interiors; the Ritz, the Savoy, Sketch – but, let us consider London’s other restaurants and hotels that define the city and its aesthetic. Since we have 5 showrooms in London, what best way to map out the little design gems other than to relate them to our showrooms?

Our flagship store in Swiss Cottage, the largest space with all our sofa ranges on display is based in North West London. Naguro – a Japanese restaurant, with interior design that strongly lends itself to typical Japanese interior styles.

The entire periphery is covered in Brown Walnut, with a great deal of light illuminating through the hidden strips which artfully highlight the bottles of Sake. It is simple, yet creates an atmosphere where you can enjoy the authentic Japanese menu.

How to re-create this look? At Camerich we are rather fond of Brown Walnut, and offer a variety of products in this beautiful finish:

The rich, warm colour of wood can create a very simple and cosy finish and from our experience, it will go with pretty much anything else. There is something about our Artina dining table in Brown Walnut (left) which captures the strong angles found in Japanese interior – the tables, Tatami mats, and even the Bento boxes in which Japanese food is traditionally served in.  It is matched with Brown Walnut Flora chairs, which add a modern twist.

Moving onto our Kingston showroom situated somewhere between Richmond, Bushy park and Wimbledon common. Whilst still within London, the area has a countryside feel, especially when you are only a stones throw away from the deer in Richmond park and the beautiful botanical gardens at Kew.

The Bingham hotel has a timeless, classic style with small hints of grandeur, such as the understated chandelier and the ornate picture rails. The Crescent bed would work perfectly in bedroom (right), whether in a leather or fabric upholstered headboard.

The communal area is elegant (right), with plenty of light from the tall Georgian style windows. We love the mix of the soft pastel coloured walls, and the cream dado rails against the rich navy leather sofas and gold stools. This can easily be recreated with our Living sofa in our Azure leather, our Noble small lounge chair in one of our cream fabrics, and a puck in Tangerine, Ember or Pumpkin.
